Flight Nurse  and Flight Paramedic Position Description

 

Contract Employer: Air Escort, Inc. - Experience traveling to destinations all over the world with Air Escort's Medical Escort Program.

Title:  RN and Fight Paramedics

Location: WORLDWIDE - Staff members need only be located close to a major airport and available on as needed basis. Position requires occasional International Travel.

Description: Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, Contract Position is responsible for providing care for patients requiring transport from a referring health care facility to a secondary/tertiary health care center, or from homes to homes, rehab centers. Other duties include performing medical procedures in accordance with medical service policies and procedures manual, medical protocols manual, along with other related duties.

Candidates must possess a valid Registered Nursing License or valid NREMT-Paramedic  with no conditions/restrictions, as well as current ACLS, and current CPR. Candidates must possess experience in emergency and/or ICU or for Paramedics no less than 3 years active full time employment in a ALS ambulance service, previous flight experience is a plus. Previous flight nurse, or  pre-hospital ambulance experience, BLS or ALS level would be an asset.  Foreign Languages a plus.  Must be a strong independent thinker, problem solver, and willing to make critical decisions quickly and decisively. Additionally, must be willing to obtain necessary immunizations required by foreign governments for entry into their countries. Position requires a valid passport.

 

Conditions of employment: pre-employment medical clearance (TB testing, Criminal Records Check, NREMT-P, RN License Verification)

Work Hours: Odd hours, including weekends and wearing a uniform may be required of this position. Combinations of Commercial Aircraft and Air Ambulances may be used.

Working Conditions: Airports, commercial aircraft, private aircraft, hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation center pickup and drop off locations. Occasional inclement weather. Must be willing to lift patients with assistance during wheelchair, aisle chair and hospital bed transfer. Must be able to monitor and care for patients on international flights greater than 15 hours.
